1906 Victorian Remodel

This Victorian built in 1906 had beautiful bones but also a very closed in and fussy, period- correct feel to it. The new owners wanted an open feeling, more flow and the ability to bring a modern sensibility to it without losing old world character. We installed a metal ceiling in the dining room, opened up walls and doorways, added an eat at counter, new cabinetry and appliances to the kitchen (also remodeled), kept the original farmhouse sink, and kept or matched the dark old wood trim to retain the integrity and character of the original house. We also turned three bedrooms and one bath upstairs into two bedrooms and two baths. We mixed very contemporary furniture with some lovely antiques for an eclectic but designed feel. And, after peeling decades of wall paper from walls and ceilings, we gave the walls a dash of contemporary color in a smooth finish.
